Employment with Valley Water requires employees to live within 150 miles of their primary physical work location located in San Jose, California by their start date. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, typically working 40% remote and 60% onsite, after training is.comlete (typically up to 3 months) Overview: Under the direction of the Payroll Senior Accountant, this position will perform the maintenance of payroll records and assists in the reconciliation of the bi-weekly payroll checks. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -Timecard reconciliation and maintenance. -Maintenance of payroll records for direct deposits, employee tax information, PERS deductions, and other employee deductions. -Reconciliation of medical benefit deductions from Kaiser and Blue Shield. -Processing of the various leave sellbacks. -Participation in the bi-weekly payroll process. -Reconciliation of the bi-weekly payroll checks. -Responding to customer inquiries on payroll-related matters. Ideal Candidate's Background Includes: Applicants whose experience and background best match the ideal experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and education are considered ideal candidates for the position. Ideal Experience: -3 years of payroll-related accounting support as a bookkeeper or accounting clerk, preferably in public sector setting. -Experience in using an enterprise-level financial and payroll system such as PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, Infor, or equivalent. -Experience in MS Office suite (Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Access, and Exchange). -Experience working with employees and vendors in resolving payroll-related inquiries and providing excellent customer. Ideal Skills and Abilities: -Ability to maintain a variety of financial records and files. -Ability to.comunicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. -Good customer service skills. Ideal Knowledge: -Knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and payroll processing. -Knowledge of enterprise-level payroll systems such as PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle, or Infor. -Strong MS Excel skills and knowledge in using an Excel add-on batch upload tool such as the Infor Spreadsheet Designer. Ideal Training and Education: -Equivalent to.comletion of the twelfth grade, plus two years of college level course work in accounting, business administration or a related field. -Associate or Bachelor degree in Accounting or Business is desirable. Required License or Certificate Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
