Assistant Finance Manager (Finance Manager 2)
The University of Connecticut Facilities Operations Department invites applicants for an Assistant Finance Manager. Under the direction of the Associate Business Director, the Assistant Finance Manager manages and coordinates all of the day-to-day purchasing, financial, and budget activities of Facilities Operations (FO).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in a related field with at least six years of experience in the areas of finance, budget, personnel, and general administrative duties OR Bachelor's degree and eight years of experience as listed above.
- Proven track record of financial analysis skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of budget preparation, fiscal management, financial projections, and reconciliations.
- Knowledge of accounting standards, principles, and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex financial problems.
- Ability to work independently, exercising judgment in resolving issues.
- Ability to work effectively with University administrators, faculty, staff, internal departments, external agencies/groups, and the general public.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated supervisory and administrative ability.
- Must be available to report to or remain at work during emergency closures, emergency repairs, or significant events that effect operations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a related field or CPA.
- Knowledge of and/or familiarity with standard university policies and procedures.
- Advanced budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Experience developing operating budgets and analyzing results.
- Experience with maintenance and capital project procedures including planning and budget development.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system, such as AiM, or a project management system.
- Knowledge of university and State of Connecticut procurement rules and regulations.
- Experience using HuskyBuy or a similar procurement ERP system.
- Experience using KFS or a similar financial system.
- Experience in an institution of higher education of similar size and complexity as the University of Connecticut.
