Qualified School Business Official candidates will hold a NYS School District Business Leader Certificate (preferred), or a NYS School District Leader Certificate, or meet minimum Civil Service qualifications.

Salary: $90,000 - $95,000

A School Business Official (SBO) plays a critical role in managing the financial and operational aspects of a school district. This position is responsible for overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing processes to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with district goals. The SBO collaborates with school administrators, board members, and other stakeholders to develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures. Key duties include managing payroll, purchasing, and vendor contracts, as well as ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Additionally, the SBO provides financial forecasts and analysis to support decision-making and long-term planning. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as expertise in school finance and accounting. A degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant experience in educational administration or public finance.
