Chief Financial Officer
The City of Humboldt, Tennessee is seeking an experienced and energetic finance professional with exceptional leadership skills to serve as their Chief Financial Officer. This is an extraordinary opportunity to serve in a progressive organization with a superb staff. The Chief Financial Officer is a highly visible municipal department head that is expected to always project a professional image of self and the City.
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance or closely related field supplemented by seven years’ experience that demonstrates progressively responsible public sector accounting and financial management or any equivalent combination of work experience and education that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills. Key areas of responsibility of the CFO include, but are not limited to: planning, organizing, and managing the City’s finances including investments, cash management, AR/AP, payroll, purchasing, budget preparation and management, internal controls, and financial accounting and reporting.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Governmental Financial Manager certifications are highly desirable. Must hold Certified Municipal Finance Officer (CMFO) certification or be able to obtain certification within two (2) years’ from date of hire, as required by the State of Tennessee, or be exempted from the certification as noted in T.C.A. 6-56-405. Supervisory experience a plus.
