We're Hiring Your Engergy Starts Here jobs.basinelectric.com Openings In: Engineering Purchasing Chemical Lab Electrical Technology Operations Maintenance Transmission Dispatch Alarm Monitor/Service Dispatcher (DOT - FMCSA) (Replaces 6/17/22 Posting) Department/Location: Member Services and Administration; Bismarck, ND Company: Basin Electric Power Cooperative Position Purpose: This position provides security services to protect Cooperative assets and employees, conduct corporate investigations, and provide other security functions. This position provides leadership, direction, and oversees the responsibilities of the Service Dispatchers on an assigned shift to coordinate operation of Security and Response Services (SRS). This position is responsible to dispatch after hours work crews, equipment, or service vehicles in response to consumer requests concerning power outages, member service issues, and emergency requests for services; and to provide telephone coverage during business and non-business hours for Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC), its subsidiaries, member cooperatives, and others in a nine-state service region. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may involve physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
Qualifications: To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent requires knowledge of corporate security procedures; investigative techniques; and state and federal laws at a level acquired through completion of a four-year Criminal Justice degree; or two-year degree in Security or Law Enforcement Administration and two years of security/law enforcement experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and four years of related security/law enforcement experience. The incumbent must be or have the ability to obtain a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician certification within six months of hire date. This position must be able to demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to provide effective leadership and direction to the dispatch staff. Proficiency with personal computers in a WINDOWS environment and typing skills of 30 words per minute is required. The incumbent must be available to work rotating shifts including nights, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed. This position travels up to 5% of the time. The incumbent must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Class C Commercial driver's license with Passenger endorsement in the state employed. If the incumbent does not have a CDL, after six months in the position, the incumbent will be required to complete CDL theory, obtain a CDL permit, complete Behind the Wheel, and obtain a passing grade on the CDL test by the end of the first year of employment. This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) (FMCSA) (CDL) qualified position.
Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands: This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, and use of keyboard/computer; and occasional stooping/bending, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, the incumbent uses electronic and hand tools to repair security equipment. Equipment operated includes investigative equipment, drug identification equipment, electronic security equipment, automobile, digital camera, two-way radio, video camera, computerized access/alarm system, emergency medical equipment, handgun, taser, and closed circuit video equipment (CCVE) systems. The incumbent requires finger dexterity, good color vision to distinguish colors on weather radar, and ability to perform close work. Must be able to speak clearly and have good hearing. The incumbent must be able to read, write, perform basic arithmetic skills, and measure distances on maps. This position requires the ability to analyze data and reports, conduct research, implement recommendations, and direct others. The incumbent must also be able to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others, and work under pressure. Occasionally, this position works in conditions of dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, noise, poor ventilation, and electrical risks. The position may be required to work at heights up to 15 feet. The incumbent must be able to operate a vehicle daily in all weather conditions.
